My creative journey in writing and other things.

Today I spent most of the day attending an online conference called “Me Publishing Me” from Midwest Writers Workshop. They had sessions on the following topics:

  • Why (and How)? Reasons We Self-Publish
  • Indie Publishing in a Nutshell
  • Understanding KDP and Ingram Reporting
  • How to Prepare for Self-Publishing Your Work
  • Reinventing Through Revision
  • You’re Not (Just) an Author: The No BS Branding Guild for Self-Published Authors
  • Brushing Yourself Off after Self-Publishing Pitfalls

I’m two-thirds of the way through but enjoying it so far. Yes, I need to finish a novel first. But it was fun to see what the process was to be an indie author. It is almost certain that I will not get traditionally published so going this route will most likely be in the cards for me. That is, if I finish writing… well, anything, for that matter.

I’m definitely one of those people who never feels prepared enough to do anything and will research and research online, order books and sometimes not even read them, take classes, and go to conferences before I even attempt things. Part of it is due to being a somewhat recovering perfectionist with the other part being that I typically have zero confidence in my skills.
